6 Festive Vegan Christmas Baking Ideas

by Fabian Jackson

5min read

Spending time in the kitchen is one of our favourite things to do, especially if it involves festive bakes, and ESPECIALLY if they’re vegan. Here are some of our top go-tos:

Vegan Yule log

This is perhaps more of an edible centrepiece than just a cake. The Yule log was traditionally a German-pagan ritual that’s more recently been adopted by Christmas celebrations. It’s connected to the ancient celebrations around the winter solstice, and the importance of keeping the log burning through the tree shortest nights.

Nowadays, the image is synonymous with winter in general, and this recipe for a vegan chocolate Yule log from The Veg Space made up of chocolate sponge, vegan buttercream and chocolate ganache is one of our top winter treats.

Vegan gingerbread

We all have fond memories of decorating these at some stage in our life, so why not recreate the magic with any little ones around this Christmas. We love this vegan gingerbread recipe from Loving It Vegan because it’s so simple with no compromise on flavour, just leaving bags of time for decorating – the best part.

Vegan mulled wine muffins

Let’s look at winter traditions in a slightly different light for a minute with these plant-based mulled wine muffins from This Vibrant World. Mulled wine is one of our favourite traditions,  we can’t get enough of the warming blend of citrus and cloves, so naturally, we’re very excited by this recipe.

Vegan mince pie brownies

Whilst we’re talking about fusions, it must be the right time to mention these vegan mince pie brownies from Wallflower Kitchen. They’re perfectly gooey and chocolatey, with a very special Christmas twist.

Traditional mince pies made vegan

If you feel like you’ve made mince pies a thousand times, then how about trying to make this giant, family-sized mince pie from Bit of The Good Stuff. It’s gorgeous to look at, who’d have ever thought you could enjoy mince pie by the slice?

Christmas cake

We love this classic vegan Christmas cake recipe from The Veg Space. It’s a wonderful combination of black treacle, dried fruits and vegan brandy neatly bundled up in plant-based marzipan and icing.
