Are Drumsticks Vegan?
1min read
Drumsticks were always the prized sweet to pick out of Swizzels party bags, but is the childhood treat vegan?
What are Drumsticks?
source
If you need your memory refreshed, Drumsticks are a type of sweet made by Swizzels. They’re often found in multipack bags of sweets, accompanied with other elite and nostalgia-inducing sweets such as love hearts, refreshers and parma violets.
Are Drumsticks vegan?
Yes and no. Drumstick lollies found in these traditional party bags aren’t vegan (though if you find yourself being offered a sweet from these bags, the refreshers are vegan-friendly, so dig in). Although these drumstick lollies contain gelatine, it is still entirely possible to get a blast of the past in the form of Drumstick Choos and Drumstick Soft Chew packs. Swizzels updated the ingredients in these in the last few years, removing the gelatin from them and making them vegan friendly.
Where to find Drumstick Choos
You can find Drumstick Choos in supermarkets, including Tesco, Asda and Morrisons. You’re also likely to find them in local shops and newsagents, too, so they’re easy to come by.
Other vegan sweets in the range include:
- Refreshers (chew bars and Refreshers Choos)
- Vimto chew bar
- Love hearts
- Parma violets
- Fizzers
So the next time you’re craving something retro and feel good, there are still plenty of options for you.
