Are KFC Chips Vegan?
1min read
The popular chain has made waves this year after launching a vegan burger, but are their chips vegan?
The KFC vegan burger
KFC released the vegan burger back in January 2020, and since then has gained a following of plant-based foodies that love the offering. Made from a Quorn fillet coated in the classic crumb and 11 spices, it is topped with lettuce, vegan mayo, and served in a vegan bun. It has even gotten approval from PETA, winning the ‘best vegan chicken’ category in its annual Vegan Food Awards.
But are the chips in KFC vegan?
Unfortunately, KFC chips aren’t vegan. They’re cooked in the same oil as some of the chicken fryers, preventing them from being vegan; this is why the KFC vegan meal is only a burger and a drink. KFC has said that the chips are cooked this way due to ‘kitchen restraints’, and that they intend to revisit the issue — so hopefully, we will be able to provide a more positive update in the near future.
