Are Multivitamins Good For You?
4min read
If you’re doing some research on what might be the best vitamins for you, then multivitamins might seem like a one-shop answer – but what do they do and are they any good for you? Keep reading to find out.
What is in multivitamins?
The answer can vary slightly from one to another, but in general, they have a bit of almost everything! Expect to find a range of vitamins from the classics favourites like vitamin C, A, E and K to minerals like potassium, zinc, magnesium, calcium and iron. Most importantly for anyone on a plant-based diet, multivitamins usually include a great range of B vitamins.
Are multivitamin supplements good for you?
They’re great for topping your body up with what it’s missing if it’s a one-off or you’re feeling a little run down, but if you have a nutrient deficiency, then you’re better off taking that specific supplement.
Most importantly multivitamins are not a substitute for a healthy diet – in fact, you’re likely to not need them at all if you have a healthy lifestyle and nutrient-rich diet consisting of a variety of whole foods.
What do multivitamins do?
Multivitamins can help improve your mood and memory and have even been linked to good eye health due to their combination of nutrients.
However, if you’re already eating a nutrient-dense diet, taking strong multivitamins on top of this could even become harmful and could become toxic to your body.
