Are Mushrooms Vegan?
2min read
Whether they’re an integral part of your plant-based fry up or your go-to ingredient for dinner, mushrooms are packed full of flavour and wonderfully versatile. But are they vegan?
Everything you need to know about mushrooms:
Mushrooms
Mushrooms grow in a whole host of different shapes, sizes, colours and textures, but they’re all rich in important minerals and vitamins. They’re part of the Fungi family and are the fleshy, edible fruit bodies of several species of macrofungi, generally grown above the ground.
Are mushrooms vegan?
Yes, mushrooms are completely vegan friendly. Even though they’re part of the Fungi family and not classified as vegetables, they’re entirely plant-based and considered vegan-friendly. Mushrooms can have a ‘meaty’ texture and are often used as a substitute in recipes because of this quality.
