Are Waffles Vegan?
2min read
No matter if your waffle iron gets a daily or yearly excursion out of the depths of your kitchen cupboards, wouldn’t it be good to know if the waffles they can make are suitable for vegans?
Waffles
Waffles are the latest reincarnation of ancient Greek flat cakes, obelios, that were cooked between two hot irons. They’ve made various appearances throughout history, but in recent years have been linked to hearty breakfasts and brunch being topped with fresh fruit, syrups and even ice cream if you’ve got an especially sweet tooth – Let’s not forget those tasty savoury waffles too though!
Are waffles vegan?
Traditionally no, waffles aren’t vegan-friendly because their batter contains eggs and sometimes milk too. However, it’s more than possible to create delicious plant-based waffles easily.
