Can The Right Breakfast Help You Lose Weight?
4min read
Have you been wondering if there’s any truth to the rumour that eating breakfast can help you lose weight? Keep reading to find out our thoughts.
Does eating breakfast help you lose weight?
There’s no strong research that shows eating breakfast aids weight loss in practice, however, the argument does make some sense.
‘Eating healthy breakfast foods can make it easier to curb cravings and stick to your weight loss goals.’ (According to Healthline). Whilst making sure you have breakfast before you leave the house in the morning won’t make you lose weight on its own, if at all, it can be the start of a healthy and productive routine.
Beyond this, it’s important to fill your diet with a good variety of nutrient and fibre rich foods as well as finding a routine you can stick to. This includes a form of exercise that you enjoy and can do easily and regularly.
What to eat for breakfast to lose weight?
Breakfast foods that are believed to help promote weight loss include:
- Black coffee – it’s very low in calories and its caffeine content is thought to boost the metabolism
- Oats – low in calories but fibre and protein-rich
- Chia and flaxseeds – high in fibre and promote a feeling of fullness
- Nuts – high in fibre, healthy fats and protein
- Whole fruits or smoothies – fibre and nutrient-dense
