Celebrities Investing, Partnering And Launching Vegan Companies
4min read
As the plant-based world continues to grow exponentially, you might have noticed more than a few big names investing in vegan products and companies. Here’s a rundown of a few notable stories from the last 12 months and some celebrities who have invested in startups.
Clevr Blends (Meghan Markle)

Actor, activist and sustainability champion, Meghan Markle, invested in a plant-based coffee startup, Clevr Blends at the end of 2020. What was, until not too long ago, a Californian pop-up is now taking all of North America by storm and has plans to go international this year.
The business was entirely self-funded until recently, which is apparently one of the reasons Markle took such a keen interest; along with it being entirely women-owned and sustainable, thriving on ethical choices. If you were looking for more reasons to be interesting, the Duchess of Sussex gifted their plant-based lattes to Oprah for Christmas!
The Pack (Chris Smalling)

A brand new plant-based pet food startup, The Pack, is the brainchild of Damien Clarkson and Judy Nadel. They’re ‘‘on a mission to cook-up delicious, drool-inducing plant-based meals [...] that’s better for dogs, and their planet too.’’ The company is yet to launch but their first round of seed investments has seen support from footballer Chris Smalling along with other notable names like BOSH! Chefs Henry Firth and Ian Theasby and Olivia Wollenberg, founder of Livia’s.

Happy Viking (Venus Williams)

So this one is less of an investment and actually a co-led launch. Tennis icon, Venus Williams, released a line of plant-based protein shakes called Happy Vikings. The inspiration is said to have come from Venus’ warrior mentality on and off the court and she hopes these shakes will help everyone access their inner Viking.
It’s no secret that the plant-based movement amongst professional athletes is growing rapidly — we’re just thrilled that these products are available for us regular folks to try as a result.
Partake Foods (Rihanna)
This is a story you might have caught in the news over the past few weeks; Rhianna is the most recent celebrity to join a long (A) list of famous Partake Foods investors. The investment is in vegan cookies – and we can’t think of a better place to put your money!
The superstar-icon is in great company with the likes of boxer, Kevin Johnson and Jay-Z.
Della Vite (Cara Delevingne)
Supermodel and spokesperson Cara Delevigne, along with sisters Chloe and Poppy, launched vegan prosecco brand Della Vite. The three sisters have long wanted to launch a business together and a vegan-friendly prosecco line seemed like the ‘perfect fit’. The drinks’ production is solar-powered, sustainable and 100% plant-based – what’s not to love?
