Is the acclaimed rapper and activist also plant-based? You’ve come to the right place, so read on for the full lowdown.

About Akala

Akala is a British rapper, poet, writer and activist from London, known for both his critically acclaimed music and his activism and novel, Natives, a Sunday Times bestseller. He was included in the Powerlist 100 most influential black British people in the UK in 2021.

Is Akala vegan?

Yes, Akala has been plant-based for quite some time now. He stated in an interview with The Guardian in 2019 that he had been vegan for over 12 years. He also explained in another profile with GQ that he ‘did a lot of research and came to the conclusion that animal products are not the optimum food for human health’, and that he was inspired by the diets of Jamaican Rastafarians in his decision to switch over to a plant-based diet.
