Is Coconut Water Good For You?
Is this hydrating and tropical drink actually healthy for us too?
What is coconut water?
Coconut water is a refreshing, clear liquid that’s extracted from the centre of young, green coconuts. It’s slightly sweet, nutty and a little salty in all the best ways.
Plus, a lot of people swear by it on a hangover!
Is coconut water good for you?
In a word, yes – coconut water is good for you. Whilst it might not break nutritional records set by smoothies, it’s got considerably more good things within it than a glass of tap water.
Why is coconut water good for you?
It’s naturally fat-free and low in calories, has no cholesterol and contains more potassium than four bananas. It’s ultra-hydrating because it contains electrolytes and easily digestible natural sugars, making it a healthier alternative to most sports drinks.
All well as containing vital vitamins and minerals, the drink is thought to have antioxidant properties, reduce blood pressure and even support heart health.
