1min read
Herbal Essences is a common product found in many people's shower caddies, but is it vegan and cruelty-free? Read the full lowdown here.
About Herbal Essences
Herbal essences is a haircare brand sold worldwide. Founded in 1971, it has since become one of the most well-known hair care brands on the market. Its marketing is centred around the power of botanicals in creating healthy and strong hair. It is owned by Proctor & Gamble.
Is Herbal Essences Vegan?
No, Herbal Essences isn't vegan, as it uses animal products such as honey and beeswax, making it unsuitable for those looking for a vegan brand.
Is Herbal Essences cruelty-free?
It states on their website, 'Herbal Essences is proud and excited to be recognised by PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, as a cruelty-free brand. You might best recognise PETA cruelty-free by their bunny logo.' However, some bloggers have disagreed as Herbal Essences is still sold in Mainland China, where animal testing can be required by law, meaning that for some, it appears to be in a grey area.
