Is Lemon Water Good For You?
2min read
Many people swear by drinking lemon water every day. But is it really good for you?
Lemon water
Whether it’s the default drinking water available at restaurants or you’ve got a water bottle full of the stuff during your day, lemon water seems like a healthy option. Is there any truth to the cultural spectacle?
Is lemon water good for you?
It would seem so. Whilst there isn’t much research into drinking lemon water explicitly, there is plenty when it comes to the benefits of lemons and water individually.
Why is lemon water good for you?
This one might seem obvious, but it keeps you hydrated and this seems like a good enough reason to start with. It’s easy to not drink enough water during busy days, so the idea of elevating the staple drink to include lemon might be an incentive on its own to drink more.
Like lemon’s cousin, the orange, it’s full of vitamin C which is an important antioxidant as well as potentially reducing blood pressure and the risks of strokes and heart complications.
Drinking regular lemon water can aid digestion, keep your skin clear and healthy and even support weight loss.
Is drinking hot lemon water better for you?
Again, there isn’t much in the way of research to prove if either is superior. Some think drinking it cold helps burn extra calories, whilst others believe hot is better for digestive health.
So it really boils down to preference over anything else.
