Is NARS Cruelty-Free And Vegan?
1min read
NARS is the beauty brand that many have come to love over the years, providing accessible makeup to people of all levels and experience. But does it test on animals, and is it vegan? Find out all you need to know below.
About NARS Cosmetics
NARS, also known as @Narsissist on Instagram (a genius Insta handle, by the way), is a makeup company founded by makeup artists and photographer François Nars in 1996. It is a unique brand for being a favourite of makeup artists, while also being loved by consumers as well. It’s well known for its long-lasting concealers and high pigment blushes and eyeshadows.
Is Nars cruelty-free?
Nars used to be cruelty-free, however, in the last couple of years they made the decision to sell their products in China, where animal testing is required by law if selling makeup. As a result of this decision, Nars is no longer cruelty-free.
Is Nars vegan?
No, Nars is not a vegan brand, as its products contain ingredients such as lanolin which are animal-derived. However, Nars products that don’t contain animal ingredients aren’t also vegan, since Nars does test on animals when required by law.
