Is Oat Milk Good For You?
1min read
More and more people are drinking plant-based milks now we are no longer limited to soy (though if that’s your go-to that’s not our business). Oat milk has become very popular in recent years, but is it healthy?
How is oat milk made?
Oat milk is made in a very similar fashion to most plant milks. Oats are soaked in water until softened, before being blended. The mixture is then sieved to separate the milk, and sterilised and flavoured if desired.
Is oat milk good for you?
Oats are very good for you and have a great nutritional profile. They’re high in fibre, low in sugar, and provide a good source of some important minerals, including manganese, iron and calcium. Like dairy milk, it is also fortified to ensure everyone receives their recommended intake of vitamins, especially vitamin D. So in all, oat milk is good for you, and like everything else, can be incorporated into a balanced diet.
