Is Quorn Vegan?
2min read
Wondering if Quorn is suitable for vegans and if so, which products in their range? Keep reading to find out.
Quorn
Quorn is one of the most recognisable names in vegetarian meat alternatives, producing a wide range of ready-to-eat snacks and cooking ingredients – but are its products suitable for vegans?
Is Quorn vegan?
The answer here isn’t a straight forward yes or no – much of Quorn’s range is vegan-friendly, however, some of it is only marketed at vegetarians. The vegetarian side of their products is mostly so because of rehydrated egg whites but also various dairy products.
Which Quorn is vegan?
Quorn’s vegan range is extensive, but some of our favourites include:
- Meat-Free Vegan Pieces
- Meat-Free vegan Fillets
- Vegan Smoky Ham-Free Slices
- Vegan Pepperoni
- Meat-Free Vegan Fishless Fingers
- Meat-Free Vegan Nuggets
Check out their comprehensive list, here.
What is vegan Quorn made of?
Quorn is made from a type of soil mould called Fusarium venenatum (we know that doesn’t sound the most appetising, but we still can’t get enough). Glucose, fixed nitrogen, vitamins and minerals are then added to the fungus before it’s processed and flavoured.
