Is Sorbet Vegan?
2min read
For those days when ice cream isn’t the ticket, sorbet always will be. But is it vegan?
Whether you want to gobble up a blackcurrant sorbet after a bracing coastal walk, or thinking of making your own lemon sorbet for pudding this evening, we know you must be wondering, are they suitable for those of us on a plant-based diet?
What is sorbet
Sorbet is the name for a frozen dessert consisting simply of natural flavourings like chunks of fresh fruit, fruit juice, maybe even cacao or whatever you fancy, really.
Is sorbet vegan?
Generally, yes, sorbet is vegan-friendly due to its plant-based ingredients. But, this isn’t always the case.
Is all sorbet vegan?
Occasionally sweeteners like honey can be used in the process, so it’s always advisable to check the ingredients list carefully. Or, if you’re out and about, ask the vendor selling the sorbet if it’s suitable for vegans.
Is chocolate sorbet vegan?
Surprisingly, chocolate sorbet is usually vegan too because it finds it’s deep, rich, chocolatey flavours in dark chocolate solids, or even cacao. Again, it’s sensible to check the ingredients to be 100% sure.
