Is Sriracha Vegan?

by Fabian Jackson

2min read

Hot sauce might not be for everyone, but for those who like it, they really love it. But is one of the most popular spicy condiments, sriracha, vegan?

Sriracha

This powerful sauce with Thai origins is made from a paste of sun-ripened chilies. It’s often used as a dipping sauce or to top dishes for an extra kick. The spicy condiment even finds its way into soups, cocktails and desserts!

What are the ingredients in sriracha?

As well as the chillies, sriracha usually includes vinegar, salt, sugar and garlic. Although homemade and brand recipes vary, these core ingredients are nearly always present.

Is sriracha vegan?

Yes, you hot sauce fanatics will be thrilled to hear that sriracha is indeed vegan-friendly. Generally speaking, the sauce only contains plant-based ingredients and doesn’t rely on any animal products during production, but it’s always worth double-checking the ingredients before trying a new brand.

Be sure to keep your plant-based questions coming our way in the comments section below.
