Is Sunflower Oil Healthy?
Sunflower oil is an essential in many households as a neutral oil great for frying and roasting. But is sunflower oil good for you? Read on for the full lowdown.
What is sunflower oil?
Sunflower oil is the product of pressing and extracting the oil from sunflower seeds. Sunflower oil is used for different techniques of cooking as well as different types of dishes. This is because it has a very mild flavour, which makes it a good choice for many dishes that have enough of their own flavours already. It also has a high smoke point which means you can use it to cook things at high temperatures, making it a good oil to use for roasting, deep-frying and stir-frying.
Is sunflower oil healthy?
Sunflower oil is rich in vitamin E, and while it is 100% fat, it is low in saturated fat, making it a healthier alternative to other types of oil. It can absolutely be healthy to use sunflower oil in a balanced diet, as it is a more heart-healthy oil and a little can go a long way if necessary.
