Is Watermelon Good For You?

There’s nothing quite as satisfying as a slice of watermelon on a hot summer’s day — but is the fruit actually good for you? Find out here.

What is watermelon?

Watermelons are large fruits that grow from vines, with a green inedible skin on the outside and red/pink edible flesh on the inside. It was first domesticated in Africa thousands of years ago. 

Do watermelons have nutritional value?

Yes, watermelons have a couple of properties that have good nutritional value, specifically its quantity of vitamin A. It is also a great source of beta carotene which is used to make vitamin A. The vitamin is necessary for a healthy immune system.

Is watermelon good for you?

Yes, watermelons make a great and healthy snack. It is 92% water, so whilst there aren’t loads of nutritional benefits to watermelon in the way of vitamins and minerals, it is a super low calorie fruit that can also keep you hydrated.
