The Best Takeaway Beer Spots in London
Lockdown may mean pubs and bars are closed for inside seating, but luckily for us, there are still plenty of places to grab a pint for takeaway. Whether they’re craft beers or classic draughts, here are our top picks.
Top tip: If you go to pubs for takeaway pints, bring your own bottles or cups to cut down on waste (and maybe get more bang for your buck!).
Railway Arches, 340 Acton Mews, Haggerston, London E8 4EA
Signature Brew beers are much, much loved by the allplants team, and luckily the heroes at Signature Brew serve their refreshing beers for collection. And, if you can’t go to the taproom, you can bring the pub to you with their Pub In A Box set. You can get a mix of craft beers, glassware and a literal music quiz and more delivered to your house. It’ll fill the pub-shaped void in your heart until the Taproom is back.
8 Netil Ln, Hackney, London E8 3RL
Forest Road Brewing Co. is available for collection so feel free to change your walking route to pass by. They may also be based in Hackney, but if you’re in close enough range of London you can get craft beers delivered to you in an hour. Forest Road Brewing Co. also took things to new heights in the first lockdown by providing a ‘tactical beer response unit’ — with a WhatsApp message they deliver pints on tap from the back of their van at your doorstep. Genius.
177 Green Lanes, Highbury East, London N16 9DB
The pub and beer garden may be out of action, but the beers are still available to grab and go. Here you’ll find a selection of your favourite craft beers and for those who want something sweeter, there are ciders too. And, to get you in the festive spirit, Clissold Park Tavern is also serving mulled cider for fans of the fizzy sweet stuff.
Pelton Rd, Greenwich Peninsula, London SE10 9PQ
For tried and true beers to collect, go to The Pelton Arms. A local watering hole for those down south, The Pelton Arms serve beers to-go from Wednesday to Sunday. Order a pint of a classic beer on tap and maybe treat yourself to one of their vegan-friendly food offerings for a weekend done right.
Ground Floor, The Sydenham Centre, 44A Sydenham Rd, London SE26 5QX
Ignition beer has got anyone in the who’s area longing for the pub covered with their takeaway pints served in a reusable caddy bag. They also offer home deliveries to those in selected (lucky) postcodes. Not only will you be getting your fix of beer, but you’ll also be supporting a great social enterprise; Ignition employs and trains people with learning disabilities to brew and serve beer.
