The Best Vegan Malt Loaf Recipes
4min read
Whether you’ve been inspired by the first episode of this season’s Bake Off or you’ve been wanting to make a plant-based malt loaf for years, you’ve found yourself in the right place.
How is a vegan malt loaf different from a traditional one?
The biggest difference is what you’ll use to bind your batter together. Traditional recipes will use eggs as their emulsifier, but a vegan recipe will use something like soaked chia of flaxseeds to do the job.
Whilst there’s no dairy in the batter itself, it’s common practice to eat malt loaf with a liberal layer of butter on top. It’s an easy swap here, just opt for a plant-based alternative!
