Vegan Dairy Milk Is Here And We Can’t Control Ourselves

This isn’t just your average vegan launch, it’s Cadbury’s. Its iconic Dairy Milk bar is the latest in mainstream treats to be veganised – keep reading to hear our thoughts

We know that it’s a somatic nightmare, but it’s here. Vegan Dairy Milk (just without the dairy).

So this is arguably the longest awaited chocolate bar to be made vegan-friendly. 

Love it or hate it, most people have tried Cadbury’s classic purple chocolate bar at some point in their life, and now vegans, anyone with lactose allergies or intolerances or who just avoids dairy can tuck in.

What’s in it? 

This plant-based chocolate bar is made from an almond paste rather than its traditional dairy milk. It’s taken two years to develop this recipe, and according to the Guardian ‘two flavours will be available, smooth chocolate and smooth chocolate with salted caramel pieces, and will come in 100% plant-based packaging from renewable sources.’

How much will it cost? 

It’s going to cost twice as much as the traditional Diary Milk at £2.50 for a 90g bar, bridging it up to, and beyond, the price point of more high-end brands like Green & Blacks and Lindt.

Do we think this is too much? Perhaps, but it won’t stop us from saving up our pocket money for the next month to try it at least once.

Where and when can I buy vegan Cadbury’s? 

It’s exclusive for Sainsbury’s from November, so you’ll have to head there to get your hands on it at first. In the new year, it appears that there are plans to expand to other retailers too just in time for Veganuary.
