We thought a great way to pay homage to St. Patrick’s day this year would be to pull together some of our favourite vegan recipes that use Guinness’ deep flavour to their advantage. Keep reading to discover which dishes made the list.

Vegan Guinness recipes

Here are five new ways to use a can of Guinness.

Guinness chocolate cake

In our opinion, this is the ultimate chocolate cake – it’s effortlessly decadent and deeply chocolatey. The Guinness here enhances the cake’s sweetness and moistness (apologies) as well as boosting the flavours for a richer cake.

Irish stout bread

This rustic no-knead loaf will make the perfect addition to your St. Patrick’s day celebrations. It’s great with soups and stews or slathered in your favourite vegan butter. It’s a sweet and savoury bread that uses Guinness as the active raising agent.

This cupcake recipe has a similar premise to the Guinness chocolate cake, but bitesize! They’re dark, rich and generously topped with Bailey’s buttercream – who could say no to one of those?

A savoury pie made with blonde Guinness, chunky root vegetables and vegan ‘chicken’ pieces. The pie is topped with lattice weaved puff pastry, perfect for mopping up the light Guinness-enhanced sauce.

If this year’s St. Patrick’s day is a cold one (which is more than likely) why not warm yourself back up with this hearty vegan Irish stew? These savoury herb dumplings and deep stew are our definitions of comfort food.
