The six-hour train journey from London to Glasgow is TOTALLY worth it, thanks to all the amazing things this incredible city has to offer.
It’s home to some show-stopping music venues, a very Tall Ship, and the third oldest metro system in the world (the more you know, right?). But that’s far from all. Here are our favourite vegan restaurants, cafes and bars in Glasgow. Don’t spot yours below? Let us know over on Instagram.

Mono
Where: 12 Kings Court, G1 5RB
Mono first opened its doors back in 2002, subsequently gracing Glasgow with a unique and versatile space in which to eat, drink and discover new music. The menu is an eclectic mix of all your favourite vegan pub fares, from sourdough pizzas to banging burritos. And whatever you do, don’t leave without trying the Cherry Bakewell Sponge, which might just have you Googling ‘places to live nearby’.

Suissi Vegan Asian Kitchen
Where: 494 Dumbarton Road, Patrick, G11 6SL
There are a whole host of exciting Asian eateries in Glasgow, but Suissi clinched the mention in our list as the menu is 100% vegan, and 100% delicious. But it’s not just delicious – the menu is extensive, with offerings and inspiration from China to Thailand. Go for the gyoza but stay for the tantalising tempeh bao, aka soft pillows of green goodness. The staff are really friendly too, and it has a real family vibe that we love.

Picnic was established in 2016 by Michelle Morrow to offer healthy and ethical treats to Glaswegians. With a focus on fresh, organic food and cruelty-free ingredients, Picnic provides its customers with delicious food in a friendly environment. They also try to be as green as possible, only using recycled or fully biodegradable packaging – a bonus for the planet as well as your plates. If you need a pick-me-up fast, we highly recommend grabbing one of their comforting smoothies.

Soul Food Kitchen
Where: 973 Sauchiehall Street, G3 7TQ
Soul Food Kitchen’s vision is to make nutritionally balanced, delicious plant based-food more accessible to the people of Glasgow – something we can fully get behind. But they don’t stop there. They also work to increase overall wellbeing in the local community by holding lots of events and workshops in their restaurant. And if that wasn’t enough, their menu is a dream. The rich, velvety Beetroot and Coconut Soup is a hug in a bowl, and with a selection of ferments on the side, you’ll leave feeling energised and then some.

Two Fat Ladies at The Buttery

One of Glasgow’s best-loved and most enduring restaurants, the Buttery, has gone from strength to strength since becoming part of the Two Fat Ladies group. The menu offers the sort of top quality cooking that the Buttery is renowned for. And as you would expect from Two Fat Ladies, Scottish seafood and produce is prepared with respect and skill. What can you expect from their vegan menu? Everything from vegan haggis to citrus and sweet ginger sorbet. Yum.

Award-winning Red Onion is situated in the heart of Glasgow city centre. Chef/patron, John Quigley's roller-coaster career started in London’s West End where he quickly established himself and gained a reputation for excellent casual gourmet dining. With his team, he’s put together an interesting and imaginative vegan menu for plant-based visitors. The wild mushroom veloute with truffle oil and pistachios on the vegan taster menu is a work of art.

Enjoy a tangy, crispy tofu masala, or grab a beer and burrito for a tasty £11, then sit back and enjoy the latest line up on the events calendar. Championing local artists as well as charity gigs, you might just scout the latest unsigned act as you sample the craft beer menu.

The Flying Duck
Where: 142 Renfield Street, G2 8NE
Ok, so it seems there’s a bit of a theme when it comes to great vegan food in Glasgow. Many of the city’s greatest spots are also home to some of the best music Scotland (and beyond) has to offer, so we had to finish this list with a nod to The Flying Duck. Sister venue to the aforementioned Mono, between the diner-soul food inspired menu, drinks selection, pool table, gigs, clubs, quizzes, film screenings, drag karaoke and what can only be described as ‘vibrant’ decor, there really is something for everybody.
