by Laura Barns

If you’re mourning mayo or finding it tough to dodge fish sauce in cooking, have no fear. There are a ton of ‘accidentally vegan’ condiments that you probably already love, and a bunch of undiscovered ones to add to your collection.
Heinz Ketchup
It’s (probably) illegal to not start with this one. Because yes, ketchup IS vegan, hoorah! And this is without a doubt a universal favourite.

Kikkoman Less Salt Soy Sauce
Although incredibly versatile, tasty and vegan-friendly, soy sauce is quite high in salt. That’s why we’re huge fans of this low-salt version – all the fun and zero compromise on flavour.
Best for: salt-conscious Asian cooking
Average price: £2.50

Follow Your Heart Vegenaise
Lots of well-known brands (like Hellmann’s) sell vegan mayonnaise now, but we’ll always shout out to the smaller brands who did it first. This one is creamy and decadently moreish.

Blue Dragon Sweet Chilli Sauce
Having a bottle of this in your cupboard can add some zing to your cooking or dipping in seconds. It’s tangy, sweet and the perfect friend for your spring rolls.

Thai Spicy Vegan Sriracha Mayonnaise
Yep, you read that correctly. If you haven’t tried this slathered on well... pretty much anything… we implore you to do so immediately. Because vegans CAN have all the tangy, creamy, dreamy fun.
Best for: adding some zing to wraps, burritos, salads... pretty much anything

Henderson’s Relish
When making stew, my mum used to sneak in a splash of (very un-vegan) Worcestershire sauce. So thank heck for Sheffield’s greatest creation, after the Arctic Monkeys.
Best for: substituting Worcestershire sauce in things like stews, soups and toasties
Average price: £1.80
Availability: 2/5

Overall rating: 4/5
Sauce Shop BBQ Sauce
Sauce fans will undoubtedly love the range from the Sauce Shop. A fair few of them are vegan, but this is our favourite as it’s the perfect balance of smoky-sweetness.

Lee Kum Kee Hoisin Sauce
