Vegan Tacos To Make For Your Next Mexican Fakeaway
5min read
Who said your favourite tacos can’t be veganised? Here’s a roundup of our favourite vegan taco recipes.
Good news — your favourite Mexican street food can be recreated at home, with a range of different flavours and textures to explore. Host a taco night and get the flavours flowing with these fresh and zingy vegan taco recipes.
Vegan fish tacos
Recreate a vegan version of a classic. These vegan fish tacos are made using battered banana blossom, a great and versatile plant that is a new vegan superstar for its fish-like texture. Paired with a mango salsa and vegan sour cream, these tacos are bright, crispy and are too good not to give it a go.
Crispy tempeh tacos
As tempeh hails from Indonesia originally, this taco is something of a beautiful fusion when combined with the typically Mexican flavours. The smoky and earthy tempeh paired with the pineapple presents a perfect balance of sweet and savoury, and the cashew cream adds a nutty and creamy balance to the lime-dressed cabbage. It can only be described as a match made in heaven.
Sweet potato and plantain tacos
The humble plantain is used a lot in our favourite vegan Mexican recipes. Paired with sweet potato, it is salty and sweet, while the salsa adds some zing and the cream adds rich goodness.
Vegan breakfast tacos
Tacos don’t (and shouldn’t) have to be restricted to dinnertime. Brighten up your mornings with these vegan egg tacos, using silken tofu, and topped with the freshest pico de gallo and cool, creamy avocados to start your days right.
Vegan tacos with nacho sauce
Make vegan cheese the star with these roasted cauliflower and grilled corn tacos. Using cashews, vegetables, good old nooch, and some smoky spices, a vegan nacho sauce is born, and it is cheesy, silky and full of flavour. The sauce also makes a great addition to tortilla chips to have on the side.
Smokey cauliflower tacos
This taco is a perfect fakeaway eat. The beautiful pickled onions add the perfect amount of sour goodness to these tacos, giving them a bolster of colour, flavour and texture. Topped with some crunchy radish and creamy avocado, this rainbow taco tastes just as delicious as it looks.
