Boosting our vitamin C intake might be one of the first things you do if you feel a cold coming on, but what about putting it on your face? If you’re not already using it, now’s the time to give it a go as it’s been tipped as a 2021 beauty must-have.

What is vitamin C serum?

slices or oranges

Put simply, vitamin C serum is an oil or gel-based skin-care product that’s loaded with vitamin C. You’ll find them online, in pharmacies, supermarkets, department stores and pretty much anywhere else you can find skin-care products.

Why should I use vitamin C serum?

The general claims all seem to include a smooth, even and glowing complexion. It’s also said to be:

  • Firming
  • Hydrating
  • Soothing
  • Brightening
  • And collagen-boosting

How does vitamin C serum work?

We know that vitamin C is meant to be one of the best anti-ageing ingredients out there, but how exactly does it work? Vitamin C is loaded with antioxidants that fight free radical damage that can lead to sun-damaged skin. Vitamin C can also help fade pigmentation which will leave your skin brighter, smoother and youthful.
