What’s This We Hear About The McPlant Burger?
3min read
Hold the phones – stop the press – this is not a drill. McDonald’s is actually launching a vegan burger in the UK (and we think we’re lovin’ it).
After what seems like five years of waiting, The McPlant burger is going to be trialled in 10 restaurants in Coventry (lucky) from 29th September before being rolled out to over 250 more stores from 13th October. If all goes well, the hope is for the burger to be available nationwide in 2022.

This is big news, it’s the first-ever plant-based burger that McDonald’s UK has launched. And it didn’t happen overnight – it’s the result of three years of research and development.
What’s in the McPlant, McDonald’s vegan burger?
The star of the burger is a plant-based patty co-developed with Beyond Meat (the rumours were true), vegan cheese based on pea protein that ‘tastes just like McDonald’s iconic cheese slices’ (we’ll take your word on that), and a new vegan sauce.
