Who Is The Bake Off’s Vegan Baker?
3min read
There is a vegan Bake Off contestant this year for the first time and we’re thrilled about it. Freya Cox is going to be bringing plant-based bakes to the tent each week and the UK can’t wait.
Who is Freya Cox?
Why, she’s the first-ever Great British Bake Off contestant, of course. We see plenty of weeks as star baker, Hollywood handshakes and Prue winks (yes, those are things) in her future.
At 19 years old, she’s also the youngest baker in the tent this year by some seven years but doesn’t seem phased by the age gap in the slightest.
How is having a vegan baker going to work in the tent?
Each week Freya will be wowing Paul and Prue (as well as the entire UK) with her plant-based bakes. Week one saw her impress with vegan mini rolls, a malt loaf and a gravity-defying ‘flower potty’ vegan cake.
More about the GBBO vegan baker
Freya is from North Yorkshire’s Scarborough and remembers watching the first-ever series of Bake Off at just nine years old. The baker lives at home and is studying for a degree in psychology.
She’s already faced adversity from online trolls over her passion for horseriding – Back off, everyone, we don’t stand for bullying here.
What do fans think?
“Freya for the win #gbbo purely for “what would I know, I’d eat cake off the floor”,’ wrote one user. According to Totally Vegan Buzz.
