Despite the national lockdown, the UK has come out to shop all things plant-based for veganuary, breaking sales records. Sales on vegan products were up by over 35% more than last year, which only goes to show this whole plant-based thing is really taking off — 500K took the veganuary pledge this month!

2. Oatly is Releasing Whippable Oat Cream in the UK

Vegan bakers, rejoice! Oatly will be releasing a vegan whippable cream that is perfect for all your baking and treat needs. It will be sold exclusively at Tesco for now at £1.20. Alongside the cream, Oatly is also releasing a range of vegan spreads, with flavours tomato and basil, cucumber and garlic, and just plain which can also be found in Sainsbury’s.

3. Nike Release Sustainable Capsule Collection

Nike has recently released its performance basketball capsule collection, donned by WNBA player A’ja Wilson. This is setting a precedent for sustainability at the forefront of the clothing industry, particularly through using sportspeople as representatives. Nike have been taking measures to make all of their ranges more sustainable, with 76% of their products being made from recycled materials. We hope they continue to increase their sustainability measures.

4. Small scrap of ground in Bristol to be turned into ‘tiny woodland’

Bristol land set to be converted

Several environmental charities have been taking measures to bring more woodland to urban areas, and this has resulted in a small patch of land around ‘the size of a tennis court’ being turned into a small patch of forest. 600 trees are set to be planted to regenerate the area, and there are plans to create up to 100 of these tiny woodland areas around the UK.

5. Vego launches vegan chocolate melts for baking and cooking

More good news for vegan bakers — Vego have released Vego Melts, button sized pieces of chocolate that are specially formulated for cooking and baking with. Throw into cookies, melt into vegan pie and much much more. We don’t know about you, but it looks like we’ll be doing a lot of baking this weekend.
