Brighton, considered one of the UK’s most vegan-friendly cities, has again been making waves in the plant-based scene. Brighton and Hove’s city council are making serious steps towards introducing daily plant-based meal options for all children after a plea from Brighton mother Jill Pearson-Kleinm has been thoroughly heard by Green councillor Hannah Clare. The council will be meeting with food contractors to discuss “how the request for more vegan options and a shift of emphasis towards a plant-based diet can be introduced.”

From 2021 the giant fast-food chain will start selling a plant-based burger that will be part of the ‘McPlant’ range that could also include chicken substitutes and sandwich breakfasts according to McDonald’s. The burger is the result of a collaboration with Beyond Meat from sources at the vegan meat company, although McDonald’s are yet to confirm who they’ve been working with.

The awards have recognised the bank’s exceedingly hard work during the Covid-19 pandemic ensuring food hygiene, flexible collection times and that enough food is reaching all of the right people in the area. The food bank has been recognised by the Sheriff of West Sussex and also internationally by the Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association in Taiwan!

The drink has the brand’s signature smooth and creamy characteristics but is suitable for anyone plant-powered.
