The Swiss food-giant loses the battle for trademarking the term ‘The Vegan Butcher’ this week. They recently acquired the plant-based meat brand Sweet Earth Foods and hoped to gain sole ownership of this new name in an aim to rebrand. The Herbivorous Butcher had gone through the same application in 2017 and lost but were key in opposing Nestlé’s bid for the name this time around stating that “The phrase ‘vegan butcher’ shouldn’t belong to any single company. This is also a huge victory for small businesses like ours.”

A hollow chocolate aubergine made from 55% dark chocolate comes with a humorous rebrand too with a slight addition to the line’s name – Egg Plant Kitchen (we see what you did there).

This announcement comes as they aim to drive the topic of sustainability further in all areas of the company. The sportswear name becomes the 1,500th clothing company to join Fur Free Retailer.
