1. Footwear brand Crocs to become carbon zero and vegan

Crocs, the marmite of the shoe world, has released a statement that they are committed to going both 100% vegan, as well as carbon zero by the year 2030. The brand plans to also make an even more environmentally friendly version of the material Crosslite, the vegan material used in crocs, and is planning to be completely vegan by the end of this year. 

2. Vegan Athlete Wins World’s Toughest Foot Race For The Second Time

Harvey Lewis, vegan athlete, bagged first place at Badwater 135, deemed to be the toughest foot race in the world. The race, which was run in around 38°C heat, was 135 miles, or 217 km, and included three different mountain ranges and a range of terrains. Lewis finished the race in 25:50:23, making it the second time winning, having taken first place back in 2014. He’s also been vegetarian since 1996 and vegan since 2016!

3. New Vegan Egg Replacer Is On The Rise

Canadian food tech company Nabati Foods are launching a new addition to the vegan space in the form of eggs, made from an unusual legume, Lupin. Lupin is familiar in the Mediterranean, as well as North Africa and parts of Latin America as a pickled snack. Nabati, however, have coupled it with pea protein to create a liquid egg replacer, soon to hit North America, and hopefully to Europe sometime soon too! 

4. Deliveroo’s Restaurant Of The Year Winner, Oowee Vegan, Opens Site In Manchester

Winner of Deliveroo’s Restaurant Of The Year award back in 2019, Oowee vegan. Is seemingly going from strength to strength. The diner-style restaurant originally began as a virtual takeaway as one of the eateries on Deliveroo’s Editions, becoming a popular choice in Bristol, before expanding to London and Brighton last year. We’re sure the people of Manchester will be running at the opportunity to taste their infamous burgers. 

5. Footballer Dele Alli Invests In Vegan Chicken Brand In Latest Funding Round

Dele Alli

England footballer Dele Alli has invested in Next Gen Food, creators of vegan chicken brand TiNDLE. The brand, which is based in the US, is planning on accelerating the growth of its product, with ambitions to become the ‘world’s number one plant-based chicken’.
