As the food world recovers from the relentless lockdown blows of 2020 and 2021, how has this progress been reflected with stars of recognition? 

How is the Michelin Guide different in 2022?

Time Out puts it well. ‘Restaurants have been trying to bounce back to pre-pandemic levels and for the past twelve months battling through a storm of staff shortages, food hikes and rent arrears. Despite its flaws, perhaps the 2022 Michelin Guide is a welcome respite from being in recovery mode and a well-deserved pat on the back for our beloved hospitality industry.’

Is the UK a good place for vegan Michelin stars?

According to Veconomist, the UK is ranked as the second-best country in the world for vegan and vegetarian-friendly Michelin starred restaurants totalling 73 establishments (compared to France’s impressive 145). 

What is the best city in the world for vegan Michelin starred food? 

If you’re after one place that holds more exquisite plant-based food than any other, London was named the top city in the world with 31 vegan and vegetarian-friendly Michelin starred restaurants. Hong Kong comes in second with 21, and Paris third with 18.

New vegan Michelin starred restaurants in the UK

After an inspection of the newcomers this year, our stand-out was Jamavar. It’s based in Mayfair and is led by chef Surender Mohan. It’s an Indian fine-dining restaurant with a vegan sample menu that has us excited.

It’s the first London restaurant from the Indian hotel group, The Leela.
