What are nachos
This North Mexican dish is made up of tortilla chips covered in melted cheese or cheese sauce often topped with tomato salsa, guacamole, jalapenos and sometimes olives too. Nachos are a popular snack or make a great appetiser with drinks and the dish has existed in this form since the 1940s.
Are nachos vegan?
Traditionally, nachos aren’t suitable for vegans because of their cheese topping. However, plant-based nachos are simple to make as you just sub out dairy cheese for a plant-based alternative.

Are vegan nachos healthy?
It really depends on what you put in them! Nachos can be high in saturated fat and salt, but if you’re opting for low-salt tortilla chips (or make your own) and choose a low-fat vegan cheese then they’ll be a healthier version!
