Parma Violets: some people love them and seek them out in a party bag of sweets, others opt for love hearts instead. But is the iconic sweet vegan?
What are parma violets?
Parma Violets are small disc-shaped candies that often come in multi-pack sweet bags alongside love hearts, drumsticks and refreshers; These are all made by Swizzels. Parma Violets are similar in texture to fizzers, however they are not fizzy and instead of having different flavours, Parma Violets are all violet-flavoured. Violets are a flower with a history in herbal medicine and have a very distinctive flavour and is probably why some people leave Parma Violets at the bottom of a party-bag (I am certainly one of those people).
Are Parma Violets Vegan?
For Parma Violet lovers, some great news for you — they are indeed vegan! Though, according to an old Guardian article, they are one of the least liked sweets amongst the millennial generation.
