2min read
Bobbi Brown is a big name in the makeup industry, known for its lipsticks and range of foundations suitable for all skin tones from its earliest days. But is it cruelty-free and vegan? Read on for the full lowdown.
About Bobbi Brown
Bobbi Brown Cosmetics is a makeup company based in New York, founded by makeup artist Bobbi Brown in 1991. Starting off with ten lipsticks, the company grew to become a respected and loved makeup brand particularly in the late 90s and early 00s. Estee Lauder is Bobbi Brown’s parent company, having bought it in 1996, however, Brown retained the rights for complete creative control over the brand.
Is Bobbi Brown cruelty-free?
No, Bobbi Brown isn’t really cruelty-free. As stated on its website:
At Bobbi Brown, the safety of our consumers is our highest priority. We utilize the latest advances in non-animal safety testing and human volunteer testing to deliver products of the highest safety and quality to our consumers. We do not test our products or ingredients on animals or ask others to test on our behalf, except where required by law.
As they currently sell in mainland China where animal testing is required by law, Bobbi Brown is not truly cruelty-free.
Is Bobbi Brown Vegan?
No, Bobbi Brown isn’t vegan, as it contains animal byproducts such as lanolin in its products. Products with vegan formulas may not be considered truly vegan either since the company is not cruelty-free.
