About John Freida
John Freida is a well-known hair care brand founded by — you guessed it — celebrity hairstylist John Freida. Started over 30 years ago, John Freida caters to different hair types providing haircare products that de-frizz and brighten dyes, making it a popular line of choice for many.
Is John Freida cruelty-free?
No, John Freida is not cruelty-free. As stated on its website:
We are often asked if John Frieda products are cruelty-free. In our never-ending quest to get our transformative formulas just right, we test our formulas rigorously, but we absolutely do not test on animals. We follow the conventions of the EU and other governmental bans on animal testing for cosmetics. Occasionally, laws and regulations require testing of materials outside of the cosmetics category. Kao’s efforts to find alternatives to animal testing for cosmetics started more than thirty years ago, well before the official EU legislation in 2004.
As John Freida is sold in Mainland China where animal testing is mandatory, it isn’t truly cruelty-free.
Is John Freida vegan?
No, John Freida isn’t vegan, as it contains animal byproducts such as lanolin in its products. Its products with vegan formulas may not be considered truly vegan either since the company is not cruelty-free.
