by Fabian Jackson

3min read

Is this picnic-ready, popular condiment suitable for vegans? Keep reading to find out.

Salad cream

Salad cream is mayonnaise’s tangy cousin – they have a very similar composition,  but their main differences are their methods and that salad cream contains a hit of vinegar. Companies like Heinz have been producing the sauce since 1914 in the UK, but references date back to Victorian times.

Is salad cream vegan?

Unfortunately most traditional salad cream isn’t suitable for vegans as the main ingredients are eggs along with vinegar and oil, often flavoured with mustard. But are there any vegan-friendly salad cream options?

Vegan salad cream

Yes, salad cream lovers will be happy to know that there are some great vegan-friendly salad creams on the market here in the UK. Try what Heinz, Scala

or even ASDA own brand has to offer!
