Is Vegan Cheese Healthy?
2min read
Whether you’re melting, grilling, grating or slicing it, there are so many ways to enjoy plant-based cheese. But we’ve been wondering: is vegan cheese healthy?
Vegan cheese
Plant-based cheese is completely dairy-free and free of all animal derivatives during its lifetime. This makes it not only a lifesaver for anyone plant-based missing their toasties or even those who are lactose intolerant. It’s usually made from a soy or nut base, but cashew and coconut cheese are widely available too.

Is vegan cheese healthy?
This might not come as a surprise to you, but like everything in life, vegan cheese is best enjoyed in moderation and as part of a healthy and balanced diet. This isn’t to say it’s unhealthy, or even a less healthy option than dairy-based cheeses. Some more natural options have a higher nutritional value than those which are more processed.
Be sure to check nutritional labels to make sure you’re eating the right stuff. Need some inspiration? Have a look at our guide to the best vegan cheeses here – spoiler, our favourite is Creamy Sheese Original.
