Vegan Guide To Costa

4min read
If you loved our vegan guide to Greggs, I’m BACK, this time taking a look at one of the nation’s favourite coffee chains – Costa – and all the wonderful vegan options you can find there.
From coffee to cakes, snacks to sandwiches, you might be surprised at the plant-based options at Costa today. Cheers to that.
What coffees are vegan at Costa?
You’ll be pleased to know that all of Costa’s coffees, apart from their mocha, can be veganised with your favourite plant-based milk. They have the following plant-based milk alternatives to choose from:
- Soya
- Coconut
- Almond
- Oat
So ask away for your favourite vegan-friendly coffee from the below, with the above!
- Flat White
- Americano
- Latte
- Cappuccino
- Cortado/Caramel Cortado
- Espresso
- Macchiato
Hot chocolate lovers, unfortunately, due to a change in the recipe as of the start of 2021, this option is no longer vegan.
What food is vegan at Costa?
Now onto the tasty bit. It’s worth noting that the availability of plant-based items can vary depending on the Costa you visit, but as a general rule, these are the bad boys you can pick up alongside your coffee.
Breakfast
Pick up some white toast, brown toast or a toasted teacake to start your day right, and so that you don’t do a ‘me’ and just opt for a coffee as soon as the alarm goes off.
Muffins, cakes and bakes
Costa outdid themselves when it came to vegan cakes and sweet treats. There are three great options on the menu; the BOSH! Ultimate Chocolate Slice, Jamaican Ginger Loaf Cake and Rocky Road. I’ll have all three, please.
Snacks
There are also a host of different snacking options to choose from at Costa if you follow a plant-based diet. The Walking Dog and Cat Gingerbreads are great for kids big and small (as well as the Pic ‘N’ Mix), and there are two flapjacks, two nut selections and Sweet Chilli Rice Snacks.
Sandwiches and toasties
There’s currently just one vegan toastie on the menu, but it’s a goodie so we’ll let them off. The Vegan Ham & Cheeze Toastie divided our kitchen when it first launched last year, but I liked it and that’s all that matters.
Paninis and wraps
Likewise, there’s just one panini on the menu, but it’s another good one. The Vegan BBQ Chick’n Panini features vegan chick’n, Texan style BBQ sauce, roasted peppers, spinach in a stonebaked sourdough panini. Yum.
What’s your go-to order from Costa? Let us know in the comments.
