1. EU Backs Vegans And Veggies On Keeping The Right To Use The Names ‘Sausages’ And ‘Burgers’
After a controversial campaign, the EU has today (23.10.2020) rejected the meat industry’s plea on revoking access to plant-based companies using ‘meat-related names’. The bid saw meat aficionado-lobbyists calling for vegan alternatives to be rebranded as ‘tubes’ and ‘discs’ (instead of ‘sausages’ and ‘burgers’) with the law extending to ban on dairy terms too, like ‘plant-milk’, ‘cheese alternatives’ and ‘yoghurt style’.
Not today, seitan.

The climate activist’s documentary has been released and is available to watch now. The film follows the teenage campaigner’s passionate efforts to be heard by world leaders on behalf of a generation who are taking action. Greta shared the poster on Instagram with the caption stating that she, or anyone on her team, won’t receive any payments for the film, but half of the film’s revenues will be ‘donated to organizations and projects fighting for a sustainable world, defending nature and supporting people already facing the worst impacts of the climate- and ecological crisis.’ The documentary can be streamed on Hulu and is being shown in select cinemas across the UK.
