Should You Try Violife’s Prosociano (Vegan Parmesan) Next?
4min read
Looking for an authentic vegan parmesan to grate on top of your favourite Italian pasta dishes or slice into a Caesar salad? Well, today we’re seeing if Violife might be the one for you.
What is vegan parmesan made from?
Violife’s vegan parmesan has surprisingly few ingredients and all of them are (unsurprisingly) vegan-friendly!
Its main composition is coconut oil and potato and rice starch which might sound strange out of context, but it really works! Rice protein and filtered water are added to the mixture along with sea salt and vegan-sourced ‘parmezan flavour’. The entire block is fortified with vitamin B12 and lightly coloured with beta-carotene.
What does it taste like?
For anyone who knows (or can remember) the taste of parmesan – it tastes a whole lot like that!
For anyone who doesn’t know what that flavour is, this hard vegan cheese tastes nutty, salty and a little tangy, but in all the best ways.
What vegan recipes can I use it in?
Cacio e Pepe
Mushroom risotto
Caesar salad
Pesto and ‘mozzarella’ pizza
